About Course

The course “3D Character Concept” is an intensive devoted to creating concepts of unique characters for game projects, animation or cinematography. The program is designed for artists with experience in the digital environment who need a new effective toolkit for the realization of ideas.

What Will You Learn?

  • During the concept art lessons we'll learn how to use various 3D packages for quick character creation. We will also learn advanced rendering techniques and work with 2D editors for post-processing and model presentation. You will learn more about working out the history and character of the character, principles of plasticity and stylization in character design.

About the instructor

Giuseppe Stiedemann
Tutor
Works at a studio that won 5 Oscars for best VFX. Worked in an animation studio for 4 years Has had time to be an art director in the advertising industry.

Course Curriculum

Sketches of ideas and work with the terms of reference

Elements of ammunition and clothing in 2D, initial work with color

Sketches in 3D, concept-sculpting in ZBrush

Concept detailing using ZBrush, DAZ Studio and Marvelous designer

Organic & Hard surface in ZBrush. Concept variation

Working with color. Polypaint and photobashing

Alternative ways of working with color in 3D. PBR-texturing in 3D-Coat

Final render in Marmoset Toolbag and KeyShot. Postprocessing and project assembly
